Admission To Hospital
Patients on treatment who require admission to hospital are often admitted to Kingston General Hospital.
The Hotel Dieu Hospital provides outpatient medical specialty clinics and surgical procedures as an ambulatory
(out patient) hospital. If you are not on active cancer treatment or your condition is urgent you might be admitted
to a hospital closer to your home.
If you are admitted to the Kingston General Hospital, an oncologist will supervise your cancer related care and
will provide follow-up care with other medical and surgical services. After your hospital stay, both your family
doctor and the referring physician or specialist will receive a complete report of hospital findings and results
of any tests.
If you are admitted to your local hospital, the Cancer Centre would like to receive a copy of your hospital reports
to make sure your Cancer Centre file is complete.
Please let the doctors looking after you know that you are a cancer patient at the Cancer Centre so that they can
arrange for your reports to be sent.
