Pharmacy
The pharmacy department in our Centre provides care and assistance to:
- Patients receiving chemotherapy, hormonal therapy or radiation therapy at the Cancer Centre.
- Patients receiving chemotherapy or hormonal therapy from their family doctor or specialist in their own community.
- Patients enrolled in clinical trials of cancer drugs.
- Patients receiving Community Care Access Centre Services (Home Care) after their treatments.
- Patients receiving medications for long term or palliative pain control.
Pharmacists use their knowledge of the patient, the disease and the drugs being used to identify
and resolve any drug-related problems. Pharmacy technicians are responsible for the handling,
preparation and dispensing of drugs. Pharmacy staff also provides information to health care
staff or patients about possible side effects or drug-related problems.
