Ambulatory/Community Systemic Therapy
Clinical Practice Sub-Committee
Background
The RONC-SEO through consensus supported Cancer Care Ontario's recommendation
for the Oncology Nursing Society "Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Guidelines and
Recommendations for Practice" and "Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs Guidelines"
be adopted across all settings preparing, administering and managing patients.
The council also through consensus supported the adoption of Cancer Care
Ontario's "Telephone Nursing Practice and Symptom Management Guidelines" for
patients on chemotherapy, biotherapy and radiotherapy.
Terms of Reference
Mission Statement
To provide a forum for communication and decision making for regional
ambulatory/community systemic therapy clinical practice issues.
Major Functions

Review current systemic therapy clinical practice
-
Streamline the process for development and and maintenance of clinical
expertise to meet professional and legislative requirements.

Standardize systemic therapy clinical practice according to evidence based
practice
Terms
-
Meetings will be quarterly or at the call of the Chair.

Committee Membership categories will be reviewed annually. The membership
consists of representation from the following programs and/or services:

*Membership will expand as regional oncology clinics develop.

(Ad hoc) members from various practice settings as required.

Agenda items will be forwarded to the Chair five (5) working days before the
meeting.

Minutes of the meetings will be circulated to the membership in a timely
manner.

Quorum will be a minimum of 50 % of membership plus one

Leadership and Reporting Structure:

Co-chairs will be appointed annually (each chair will represent ambulatory and
community)

Clinical Practice Leader, Oncology will provide leadership and administrative
support

Written reports submitted to the RONC-SEO five times a year.
