Regional Oncology Nursing Council of Southeastern Ontario (RONC-SEO)

 

Terms of Reference

Advise the Vice President, Regional Cancer Program on regional nursing practice, education, leadership and research issues/initiatives.

Advise and collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer- Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) and Chief Nursing Officer of the partner relationships on regional issues/initiatives related to practice, education, leadership and research.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide regional oncology nursing leadership in practice, education and research.
  2. Participate in the development of evidenced-based practice guidelines (EBPG) and implement existing EBPG for oncology consistent with the Nursing Professional Advisory Committee of CCO.
  3. Develop oncology-nursing expertise in the region consistent with the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) Standards of Care, Roles and Competencies.
  4. Participate in the development of a model for coordination of care, continuity of care and collaboration across the region for cancer patients and families.
  5. Generate new knowledge in oncology nursing through collaboration and participation in research.
  6. Utilize quality indicators across the region to assess the impact on patient outcomes.

Membership

Members will include:

  • Nursing leaders for education, practice, leadership and research as it relates to the discipline for oncology nursing across the region along the cancer care continuum.
  • Community Oncology partnership/affiliated organizations.
  • 1 representative from the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO)-Nursing Advisory Committee.
  • Ex-officio-Chief Nursing Officer for Cancer Care Ontario

Leadership:

Chair – Clinical Practice Leader, Oncology, Regional Cancer Program
Administrative support will be provided through the office of the Clinical Practice Leader, Oncology, and Regional Cancer Program

Meeting Frequency:
5 meetings per year on the third or fourth Monday in the months of January, March/April, May, September and November.
Teleconferences at the call of the chair.

Quorum:
Fifty percent plus one of membership

Decision Making:
Decisions regarding council strategies or directions will be made using a consensus approach

Agenda and Minutes:
Agendas and minutes will be distributed to each committee member, Vice President, Regional Cancer Program. Individual members reporting to Chief Nursing Executives or other Executive positions will distribute agendas and minutes according to their organization accountability structure.
