Correction facilities in Ontario provide Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy and other multidisplinary services. All facilities have access to speciized services such as Oncology, Palliative Care, Psychiatry. Nursing provide health promotion and disease prevention education.

The Kingston Penitentiary houses the Regional Hospital (six in-patient medical beds) and the Regional Treatment Centre (mental health services). The Regional Hospital is the only 24 hour medical facility and as such it facilitates transfer from other insitutions to its hospital for all types of medical appointments. Palliative inmates are managed at the Regional Hospital and nursing care is provided following Palliative Guidelines developed by Corrections
