Medical Coverage for Canadian Forces Personnel
The Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) is the designated health care
provider for Canada’s military personnel. It provides medical and dental
services at military installations across Canada and overseas. Regular members
of the Canadian Forces (CF) are not covered by provincial health care plans as
these men and women are frequently transferred within Canada or assigned to
tours of duty overseas.
For members of the Canadian Forces who may be accessing health care services
anywhere within Canada, they must present their CF Health Care Identification
card along with their official military card. The CF Health Care identifiction
card does not provide coverage for family members or dependents. (Family
members or dependents who are civilians are covered under provincial health
care plans, ie. Ontario OHIP)
