Pediatrics Oncology

Pediatrics oncology nursing involves several aspects of the
care of a child with cancer. Nurses provide a continuum of
care ranging from the provision of physical care, including
treatment and symptom management, cancer prevention education,
support of the bereaved family in the event of a child’s
death, and long term follow up for survivors.
The Pediatrics Oncology Program at Kingston General Hospital
and the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario provides a multidisciplinary
team approach where the focus is family centered care throughout
the entire cancer experience.
