Oncology Nursing Research

The RONC-SEO promotes research activities to advance oncology nursing practice. In recognition of their mandate, a strategic plan to promote the use of evidence and an academic practice environment through knowledge translational and scholarly activities is being developed; to produce evidence through the conduct of scientifically sound, meritous research; and to contribute to nursing knowledge through various dissemination activities with an ultimate goal of promoting and contributing to quality patient care.

Key strategic priorities are:

  1. Identify oncology practice issues across the southeastern region, in and across settings, for which there is lack of evidence to guide practice or the best available evidence is not sufficiently incorporated into practice.
  2. Develop a research and quality agenda to address identified research or translational priorities
  3. Develop research and quality teams to lead primary research or translational research activities

The long-term vision for the nursing research agenda is to continue to contribute to oncology nursing knowledge and to increase our capacity to engage in research activities through research training and educational supports. The council wishes to increase their capacity to participate in, lead interdisciplinary research and to contribute at a provincial and national level.
